You know my story already and my childhood, such as it was. Beaten, not spanked. There's a huge difference what happened to you.

However, I spanked my 18 year old and he still comes in to give me a hug when I'm sad, wants to talk with me about things going on in his life. I was spanked too, and I am fine. However, there are a lot of people that aren't fine from it, and by the time the verdict is in on whether it was the right thing to do, it's far too late.

Perhaps the same thing could have been accomplished with just the communication part, you'll never know because you have two variables. As a parent, I'd be far more proud to find out my son resolved a situation through words than by punching a kid out. Or is it better to say, "I knocked your teeth out because you deserved it for reasons A, B, C" because at least he communicated too?

i was looking at cons for me and @Jesicu to go to, and a supernatural con came up and they wanted like a frickin' grand to breathe the same air on the same day as the two main guys, and that didn't even include taking a picture with or meeting them. that's just flat out silliness. it was even a couple hundred just to get in the door on a day without those two, hell to the no.
