Good to know. I favorite a lot of my guys so I don't accidentally trade them. I forget why I'm "saving" one all the time.

I only pay attention to this when I'm out walking, so that's the very best time to be deeply staring at my phone

Or if I'm sitting in my car and have finished my lunch and am waiting for my kid to get out of school. Then I remember "Oh yeah, I'm trying to do xyz with this dude..."

also, some shiny can evolve and stay shiny/special, and others barely have any effect.

i didn't know the first thing about pokemon when i started playing go either, gurl and jesicu taught me everything i know, but before that i evolved a shiny eevee (i didn't know what a shiny was, i probably didn't even notice it was anything special) and it's not much different than a normal evolved eevee, so i have a "wasted" shiny. now i just google before i evolve to make sure i want the shiny evolution.

Did someone say useless shiny?

 

I just evolve away. It goes like this.

1. I'm bored somewhere so fire up Go
2. I click on characters I have two or more of to see if I have fully evolved it.
3. I notice I have not fully evolved it.
4. I have enough candy to evolve.
5. I click evolve.

I totally should appraise and evolve the best one, and sometimes I do, but other times? I just evolve.

I don't even think I'm "playing" this game really. I'll go battle in a gym if I feel like taking the gym, as I have enough powerful dudes that I can take a gym on my own after one to three rounds, or I'll do a raid if I have to get some field research done, and I regularly throw my highest CP dudes in gyms to get coins, but otherwise? There is literally no strategy at all to what I do in this game.

yeah, that's exactly what i do. i downloaded the game because a gym spawned in my front yard on release day and i didn't know what was going on. i deleted it after awhile, then gurl and jesicu got me to download it again. i was so scared to do anything in a gym because i didn't want to throwdown with actual pokemon fans, so the first time i knocked someone out of a gym, i walked away and didn't put anything in gurl said it was ok and i should just put something in there. i was like noooo they're going to be mad at me
