We are a research team from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) studying the effects of ad-blocking software on consumers’ online behaviors.



The study consists of two HITs. You may earn up to $25 for participation in both HITs. The HITs include:

1. First HIT (this HIT): Completing this initial 25-35 minutes study which includes installing some software on your computer(s) ($10). The software may block online ads and capture information about your browsing, online purchases, and selected information from emails from online vendors. If you use smart phone(s) and/or tablet(s), you may be asked to install an app on them as well. Only MTurkers who primarily use Windows computer (not Mac or Linux) and Chrome browser for personal browsing and shopping can participate in this study. You should also be a sole user of your primary computer to qualify for this study. The installation will take less than 5-15 minutes and the survey will take less than 20 minutes.
2. Second HIT: Keep the software installed and running for two weeks and complete a final 30-minute survey ($15).
