    I think I read youtube monetizes stuff on length now or something. I think I read that somewhere so a lot of videos are getting longer than need be just to get more ads in and increase revenue.

    I have to say, i love cooking shows. But reality TV cooking shows like Chopped, Iron Chef, Masterchef, etc. Cooking shows are like HGTV. Fantastic background noise when you have company over.

    9 of those 10 minutes is helping the watcher find the Subscribe button on the screen, thanking them for watching the video, thanking them for following, suggesting other videos they have posted, talking about what they anticipate talking about later on in the video, thanking the audience again for watching, thanking god, thier mom, thier best friends dog who came over the night and he was so amazing, mention what kind of dog it was, how they want that kind of dog, then mention the subscribe button one more time. Its that last minute that has what you are looking for.

    • How obscure can you make the thing the user is actually looking for so they stay on your page longer without making it so obscure they don't feel like they've "almost found it" so they don't just X out completely
    • How many other random things can you make them accidentally click on to show they are "engaging" with your page and lowering your bounce rate
    • How pompous can you sound w/o making users X out so that you are an "authority" on your niche?
    • Do you have links from reddit/facebook/twitter? No? You're trash no one gives a shit about you gtfo
