    Don't worry.

Set the rules early on. Never lie to your kid (even small stuff like "If you don't eat all your peas you can't have any dessert!" then they eat half their peas and you give in and let them have dessert...you just lied to them...), NEVER engage in a power struggle with them because as the parent you HAVE the power, why fight for it, and respect that they are humans with their own ideas so listen to them (even if you don't give in to them) so they feel heard and valued, but not coddled or spoiled, and you'll be fine.

(Unless your kid is born genetically a sociopath, then...well...good luck...lol...)

Follow through is so important. It's hard at first but once they realize that your threats are real, then it becomes easier.

I meant it more in the sense that I cannot imagine ever talking like this at home and even nearing 29, I get anxious imagining talking to my dad or stepmom that way. I had a stepmom who was 6 years older than me and there was some natural rebellion involved there, but I literally couldn't imagine talking like that at 14, much less 20. I didn't like the rules at home, so I kept my head down and moved as soon as I could. It wasn't my house, so it wasn't my rules, even if they weren't fair.

    THIS! SO THIS!

It's exhausting to follow through when your kid is in a testing stage. So. Tiring. But overall life is easier. Let them know you mean what you say and them trying to beat you down makes it worse for them.

Also it helps if you don't embarrass in public. Early on my kid learned throwing a fit in public didn't work with me. I would just apologize to everyone near me, let them know I am teaching him to not think he can get his way by screaming, and soon it will stop. I actually got applauded once in Target for apologizing and saying this to other shoppers. (And I will say kid tried fits about three times and then we were done. Older son tried about 7, he was stubborn, but then we were done. Girls never tried any, hm....they threw fits in private, lol.)

    Different strokes I guess :dunno:

Me? Well I'm just gonna sit here on my beaten down, squeaky wheeled chair praying I don't get blocked by a requester who would put a permanent black mark of shame on my already 3,502 undeserved rejection tainted account that barely grasps toward it's monotonous, melancholy, modal, mojojojo, masochistic daily goal of $0.01.. Suffering a constant reminder that I will never HIT my daily HIT goal of 9,999 HITs completed: the maximum MTurk will allow me to enter into that box, capping my already low self esteemed by essentially saying I will never break the 10,000 HIT glass ceiling placed above my peasant, balding scalp - burning with the tinge of shame but mostly sunburn.

Anyway please buy Ghost Workers by Siddharth Suri to read more stories like mine!

One time about 3 years ago I think I got one that said this..

You go for a walk in the park and feel hungry so you bend down pick up a dog turd off the sidewalk and eat it.

What is wrong with these people man?
