The next year after the AP results came out, a teacher at my HS made a banner to take to our rival's football game that said "18-0, the real score." Referring to the number of people in the graduating class who got a 5 on the calc bc exam lmao.

We had a class above AP Calc, which was "College Calc". Straight up dual-enrollment with Penn State. The teacher was also the AP CompSci teacher, so a good 60% of our classes were playing CounterStrike in the computer lab while he worked on stuff for his other class.

It comes time to take the Penn State test if we want. It was like $750 or something absurd so everyone opts out except our valedictorian.

    Dude got like a 20% IIRC. :emoji_joy:

My high school had mini 'school groups' or whatever I can't remember what they called them and I went with the Art Academy one because they had all the fun classes and had less requirements (I'm a lazy mofo).

I took film analysis my senior year while other kids had senior English with tons of essays.

Watching through the classics > reading the awful shit schools have you read

On the other hand we almost watched an episode of strike witches until the three weebs told him that was an awful idea unless he wanted to get fired.

we had the same thing at my school with a local 4 year school. If we enrolled in the class, we had to pay the fee to take the test at the beginning of the year. Motivates you more that way.

We only had Honors classes in my area and the areas my friends were in school at (totally different geographical areas in CA). We did have AP tests, though, I took them and passed all I took.

We did not, anywhere as far as I know, have weighted GPAs as 4.0 was the highest anyone could get even when applying for college. I know that's totally changed now, but 4.0 was it back then. If it was a thing no one talked about it, not even my college counselor. And my report cards don't even have a space for it.

I believe that there are still 'honor' level classes but the AP ones are above those.

I used to make up little songs and raps about different things (structure of nucleotides, different nitrogenous bases, etc) and my teacher would have me sing them in front of the class with a sideways hat and his sunglasses.

Partway thru my exam, there was a series of questions where you had to draw out and label the structure of dna and break down each part- you could hear multiple people start humming the same tune as they drew it out :emoji_joy:

We play trivia at a brewery and they had a memory challenge a few months back, where you had to memorize a list and put down as many as you could remember at the end of the night. I just blurted out everything to the tune of Jingle Bells, and everyone was baffled except Matt-bot:emoji_joy:

I think we have w/e the future prison inmates did, normal class, honors, AP, then w/e the kids who couldn't look anyone in the eye b/c they were homeschooled and 10 yrs above everyone else (AB), and then that dumb system. I say dumb because instead of Penn St it was the local pay for a degree place that got sued into oblivion a few years ago lmao.

Always interesting they all had varying degrees of social acceptance to go along w/ the class level
