Except, that's just one example and it was dumb luck I was filming, because at the time, they would sometimes just cautiously walk past each other and back off. By the time I realized that Coug was about to bum rush Bearnie, they were across the room from me and I had to get in the middle of them. They didn't see me and go, "Oh no, we can't fight now that she sees us!" They were like a tornado of claws and annoyance.

I'm just using it as an example. It was like dealing with fighting siblings- I had to give them space to try and learn how to deal with each other appropriately, while breaking them up and calming them down when they fought (generally, before they actually started fighting, but sometimes they surprised me), and showing them the better way to act. No fighting, more cuddling, fighting = sitting by yourself and away from mommy. No fighting = chicken and cuddles and hanging out with ma. It wasn't overnight. We went from outright fighting, to cautious dirty looks and sometimes fighting, to ignoring one another, to being tacit friends. There were plenty of times I did not see it coming or wasn't even in the same room to know it was gonna go down- which meant I often had to keep one of them in my line of sight at all times or seperate them if I wasn't home, so I wouldn't return to carnage.

It was not fun and I got rather stressed for a time. My friends literally had to catsit my rumbling fighters for a day so I could actually leave the house overnight with Matt, instead of staying home with my moron cat kids who, at the time, were not getting along well enough for me to leave that long.
