I do not understand how San Francisco can be so expensive when it is so shitty.

 

It's because there's also a large amount of homeless people either displaced by rising rent prices, or mental illness, or drug abuse, or whatever causes people to be homeless in the first place. There's nowhere for all those people to go and they don't have enough access to public restrooms etc. Which is why you see homeless camps, needles and shit on the streets. It's not so much an issue with the shit on the streets as there not being enough support for homeless people.

 

People poking fun at the poop on the streets are only poking fun at a shallow symptom of a much deeper problem that they don't really want to think about, basically.
