Another thing is don't panda TOO much, just the stuff that is good paying or you know over time that the requester posts as trickle hits. That way your pandas aren't flooded with a bunch of stuff which makes it more difficult to snag things when they do pop up, because they were refreshing some bogus panda hit and you missed it again. Also, keeping an eye on the REALLY good paying hits that are posted here all the time, the high hourlies and juicy hits, I've snagged a lot that I've missed from posts here.

Let me clear this up for you: When people are getting up in arms about "secrets" they explicitly mean name dropping specific lucrative hits and pretty much nothing else

IINM there's more to it than that.

I've read (somewhere) that the search interface inherently lags. Yes that's partly about refresh interval on the client side, but there's also a theory about a server-side lag as well — whereby the panda mechanism is inherently faster, targeting a known HIT URL directly, to (just maybe) catch it before the servers add it into search results. — (IIUC. ... I'm not an expert, so someone can correct me if my understanding is off.)

So IIUC, the point of the strategy is: Yes, use search scraping to discover HITs, try to catch them in the scraper such as Hit Forker — but if a HIT is already consumed and apparently unavailable, then Panda that puppy (e.g. "P" icon in Hit Forker, or "O" to panda just "once" for a survey), and maybe catch it later (when someone returns one, or when more of that HIT get posted). — Then (with some luck) the panda mechanism might catch that HIT (maybe even possibly before the servers distribute it into search results, IIUC).

but on things like surveys - people aren't already pandaing the GID, because it didn't exist until the HIT was posted. - in that regard, everyone has the same shot of grabbing it - sort of at least
