Here's one possible sequence of events as I understand it.

I'm NOT an expert, so someone can correct me if I'm not entirely right.

(Note step #3 and steps #10#13 — the latter explains how I think
a panda may be relevant even in the scenario you describe.)

    1 — A requester posts a HIT (let's say it's a survey).
2 — The servers makes the HIT available at its HIT URL (but not yet in search results, IIUC).
3 — (Some small lag time here, IIUC.)
4 — Then the system adds that HIT into available search results.
5 — After that, the HIT can appear on the next periodic refresh of your search-scraper (such as HIT Forker).

(Am I right about the lag time in #3 above)? — That's on the server side:
After the server makes the HIT URL go live, there's a short lag time
before the server adds the HIT to available search results. — Correct?)

6 — You're using a scraper (such as HIT Forker) that periodically refreshes a search.
7 — You see the aforementioned HIT in the scraped search results.
8 — You click, but the HIT is already unavailable (others got it first).
9 — You may now panda (or "panda once") that HIT.

10 — The requester posts at least one more of that HIT — or maybe some worker returns one.
11 — Now again the servers make the HIT available at the HIT URL (but not yet in search, IIUC).
12 — (Again some small time interval here, IIUC.)
13 — Possibly (with some luck) your panda might now catch the HIT during that interval. — Otherwise:

14 — After that short lag time, the servers may add that HIT into available search results, IIUC.
15 — And after that, your search scraper's next refresh might display that HIT.

IIUC, the panda mechanism can (with luck) just possibly
catch the HIT before the servers add it back into search results.

So this is not only about client-side search-scraping intervals
(and client-side panda intervals) — it can also involve a server-side
interval of time (so in step #13 above, your panda has a possible chance
to maybe catch the HIT before the servers add it to available search results).

    ... unless I'm wrong. — Am I wrong? — (I'm not an expert.)

    yup pretty sure that's correct.

but what I'm saying is for catching new surveys - it's best catch it directly from the scraper - because waiting on the panda requires the requester posting more HITs under that same GID or hoping for return or expires which may never come.

Just gotta stare at that scraper! :D

    I'm using Mturk Suite v2.6.12
I set it to 800 MS and maintain 0 PRES at that rate.

I've looked at Pandacrazy and it looked a bit dated to me as well as most of the scripts on gresyfork. Am I missing something? Is PandaCrazy and Forker faster?
