    If you're on Forest Service land (or other state & federal agencies) I would check the fire danger level currently and also what fines go along with being caught setting these off... not to mention the fines and/or imprisonment that can be given if a fire is started (depending on damage and suppression costs). Sorry, not trying to put a damper on things, but there are some very real, horrific and expensive stories out there pertaining to things like this.

    I feel you, we are going to be on private land, and there aren't many trees where we will be located, it is an area that has been excavated for fossils and was once a quarry :). But there is a river running through that comes to a waterfall, it is an area that relatives own and mom loved.
