10/13 - Sizzle Sunday!

I was prepared to not like 10 because I liked eccleston. But, I am so in love with David Tennant. I'll watch anything he is in. I loved him as the doctor and then freaked the hell out watching him as Killgrave in Jessica Jones.

 

Rose and Amy are tied for 1 and 2, Amy wins out when Rory is around. Wilfred comes next followed by Donna then Martha, but very close on the last two. I haven't seen anything after Matt Smith's time as the Doctor so I don't know about the ones after them. Tennet, Smith, and then Eccelston personally.

 

Poor kid would never make in through Silence in the Library, then. I always thought the Angels were cool. Then I read The Shining and wondered why they didn't make into the movie as well. Though I guess that would've been a bit too much with what the original movie was going for.

also, i mostly hate martha because she was written so poorly. especially for a smart poc she deserved a better role, but ended up being a personified narrator. her only dialogue was either pouting about 10 not falling in love with her, or just saying obvious things out loud.

oh yeah, don't get me wrong, i love the hell out of tennant. i just do not love his doctor. my main gripe is how flippantly he dealt with daleks, it will always be my point of contention with him. like, these shits wiped out your planet and he's all teehee about them, while the others recoiled and trembled whenever faced with them. but again, pretty sure it was just writing, and not his fault.

imo, the doctor should be a perfect mix of brooding and silly. it's kind of like goldilocks and the three bears: eccleston was too brooding, tenneant was too silly... smith was just right.

 

That was a cool episode. Freaky, cool, and yeah my kid would hate it.

I have been hoping to find a full size stand up of a weeping angel (with covered eyes) to put in my bedroom window every Halloween. I just want to freak people out who walk by. But, I can't ever locate one that I like.

I probably like Tennant so much since I "discovered" Dr. Who with Baker (I'm old) so...the first run of the series had doctors who were more silly, or at least that's how I remember them? Haven't watched a ton of the first run as an adult (except for the Baker episodes).

But I do like brooding a bit. So I see where you're coming from there.

 

That was actually why I disliked a good chunk of the bits with Rose. I'm not a fan of romance in my science fiction.

I watched a bit of the first doctor's run and that guy was a fucking ash hole.

 

100% same with rose for me. gimme aliens and war and silly british humor, keep the face sucking to a minimum.

 

Though it worked with Amy and Rory, because like, being in love with The Doctor isn't the same as loving another human who's actually from the same planet as you and not like 8993492349823 years old because it just gets weird then.

 

So I was watching Call the Midwife the other night and the kid was in the room with me. He instantly perked up and said, "They're watching Dr. Who on the television in that show..." And they were! First Doctor! I was all shades of giddy that Dr. Who made it into a period Brit show. Made me (almost) want to go back and watch the first doc but...eh...better things to watch.
