04/11 - Total Assistance Tuesday!

I appreciate it seriously! Yeah my mixing isn't all that but I really taught myself all of this music stuff so it's all by ear and trial and error. 90% of those songs were recorded with a built in laptop mic, so I was just happy to have clean vocals. I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm trying my best lol. I don't write either, all of those are 1 take. All I have now is a basic mic/pop filter the whole thing. a laptop. fl studio and a whole lot of beats and time. I'd definitely be down to get some help with the mixing though if you're offering. Once again definitely appreciate you! I'll be going on tour June 7th so if anyone wants some free tickets feel free to PM me and let me know i'll send em out a week before I'm in the city/state/etc.

lol, well maybe it won't surprise you that I only check facebook about once a day. I also may or may not have declined over 100 friend requests at this point, because I'm not terribly interested in people I haven't seen since high school. I have unfollowed any of my friends that either a) only post unoriginal forwards, b) post spoilers, c) post about their pets and kids multiple times per day. I don't actually enjoy being a grumpy old man, so I attempt to hide the content that triggers me. I also didn't always feel this way...hell, I met my wife online almost 14 years ago now playing an old Yahoo game.

Also, despite all of this, I'm actually a delight and pretty social in person haha

I don't see how you do it, I watch my games on my tubes silent. I hate everyone that talks and fakes like they're scared even though they have like 500 horror video games in their playlist. Like it's believable that you may have been scared the first time but you HAVE to get desensitized after a point that's just how brains work

I've actually replaced about 98% of my TV with YouTube/Beam/Twitch. Granted, I do watch some non-gamers (people building things, motovloggers, etc) but for what I do (game developer), it's fun to see people's reactions and thought processes while playing games.
Plus, $60 for a new game is pretty steep (especially if it's for a game I'm so-so about), so sometimes I just watch others play it. It depends on the people playing it too. I can't take people screaming into the mic 24/7, so sometimes I'll watch 'no commentary' playthroughs for peace and quiet while working lol.

All said, I can totally understand how it can be an odd thing watching others play video games haha.

Game Developer? I've never actually met someone in the industry. Are you indie based or mainstream based?

 

I gave up Facebook because even though my friends list was pretty curated with like minded people I could not deal with anymore political nonsense. It reached critical mass and I was done. I intended to break only for a few months but honestly I don't miss at all. I wanted to see the personal posts, esp with pets cause animals are awesome, I wanted to see the funny meme's and such. I got sick of the never ending political posts and the constant whining about woe is me my life is so hard but I'd rather sit here and cry about it instead of getting off my butt and doing something about it lol. I kind of do enjoy being a grumpy old man lol. I have my small circle of close friends and I don't have to pretend to fake like anyone that I don't actually like.

 

Indie, I do it all on my own free time. I haven't released anything yet, but been working for the past few years on some stuff. Creating a stealth/undercover game and a small puzzle game.

I'd be glad to help for a credit lol. But seriously a built in laptop mic? That's like a cardinal sin. You should go to your nearest priest and confess. In all seriousness its not bad for one take and a built in laptop mic (yep I won't ever stop mentioning that). The funny thing is that actually makes it more of the sound of today doing it that way because that's what king Drake does and also what Jay-Z has been doing for decades. If everything I heard was a rough draft, you wouldn't have to do much to make it a finished product.

That's actually pretty cool. I've always been interested on working in the field but I've never had any break. I would like to play them when you finish them. I make music if you need help with sound.
