I do write on my walls. I have cinderblock in the living room so we write on those in chalk all the time and I change the quotes. Our fireplace also contains the running list of movies for our movie night because we got tired of forgetting what we thought we wanted to see next.

I also have some permanent words up over doorways that I adore. Words that mean a lot to me that might seem cliche to others. I have the words Hope, Love, Peace, Family and Laugh over various doorways. Hope is over my son's. Laugh is over the bathroom. Peace and family are in the living room. I'm positive some people think those are cliche and pretentious, but after my daughter died I needed the daily affirmation of these words to even get out of bed in the morning, and 18 years later I love having them up as a reminder of how far I've come and that I no longer feel like dying every day.

tldr; words have power and can influence a space, cliche is situational.
