My understanding is it's named after a Dutch province called Zeeland, which makes sense because the country was originally discovered by Dutch explorer Abel Tasman in 1642. Depending on how hard your water is, it will cut years off your appliances that use water. I don't know if you have a dishwasher, but the performance between hard and soft water was like night and day.

I always thought they were BS, but after getting one, I noticed a huge difference.
