Who the frack spends hours on a survey?

I mean, right there, that's the problem. Not the requesters. The dumb ass workers who spend hours on one survey!!

Here's the other thing that really bothers me. The working world is significantly different than it was even just 10 years ago. I used to have employers who wanted to provide benefits and a livable wage in return for my hard work. In the last 4 years I've had 4 part time jobs because that is all I could find in this area. I'm not utilizing any of my work skills or experience. Every single company offers completely unaffordable insurance that is available to you if you work a specific number of hours for which you will never be scheduled. There are no raises, every employee makes the same. You have to be available 24/7. If you aren't willing to change your schedule because another employee calls off, it's a black mark against you. I was literally told at one company that they don't care if the employees are unhappy because we are all interchangeable.

So if I don't like a survey or feel something is unethical or underpaid I just move on to the next thing. Am I making enough money? Of course not but I'm new. I have to invest the time and learn. I'm not making enough money at my other job either but I have no control over that because see above paragraph. I don't know what I would do without this forum or mTurk right now. Off my soapbox.

That is the world now other than a few good companies out there. Because the amount of jobs is less than the amount of people and it keeps going that way there is always going to be a surplus so they have 0 reason to ever give benefits or be helpful in anyway.

So far this diet change has been working out well. I haven't had any soda in like a week, and every meal I have cooked as been from scratch with no processed stuff. I'm trying to put a lot more effort into learning new recipes too.

I think I'm going to make some grilled chicken with mushroom and tomato rice tonight.

These thoughts are brought to you by me not having anything in my queue currently.

I cook from scratch all the time, it seems great until you feel pressed for time and you'll be like this shit takes an hour and a half and I just wanna go sit down, I've been there.

It's a return to the gilded age. The Pinkerton Police should be back in business soon to silence any talk of dissent.

Many Turkers who said they rely on the platform for full-time work, however, expressed a sense of hopelessness and demoralization, and underpayment was a common complaint among respondents to our survey. “I’m disabled and have difficulty finding or maintaining other work, so for the most part this is all that I have to survive on, and it’s not enough,” one respondent said.

While I 100% feel for anyone in the situation relying on Mturk for all of their income. how is the fact that it doesn't provide enough work to give them enough money to live on Mturk's fault? I'm not sure this was ever meant to be a full time gig for everyone. Certainly savvy workers can make enough money to support themselves if they have a minimal lifestyle, but I can tell you there is no scenario where Mturk can give me enough money to support the modest life the kid and I have. And I would never expect it to!

I feel like they're trying to equate Mturk workers with actual Amazon employees, and if they can succeed in doing that, then Mturk might become highly regulated and...possibly...disappear. Which I don't want, and I don't think many of us want.

California just passed a law making rideshare drivers employees and it's causing havoc. It's not going to achieve what lawmakers want it to.
