04/12 - Swift Sunday!

20 mins and I'll start. Finishing up a TV show while I amazon shop

 

Around here it's about 75% of normal. Sanitizer and wipes are still out, and TP is still limited to 1 or 2 per person, but for the most part I can find what I want and need when I go.

Oh wait. Flour can still be dicey to find.

 

hrmm.. flour is on my list darn it

 

I have found it a couple of times, but a couple of times it's been out. If you aren't picky about brand you can probably find some if you try more than one store and don't go to the big places like WalMart or Target. I found it at the smaller chains and local stores for other people.

I have plenty for me, I bought 5 lbs before all this crazy happened so we've been good. But I had to find some for a friend for whom I shop, and it took me two tries but I found it, and I've seen it since.

 

I think it's the weather. It was sunny and 80 the last few days and today it was 55 and windy.

 

Just got my stimulus deposit! Guess they went out Friday for the first round.

I have 11 children.

I actually was unprepared for a lot of what happened with my first, but that was because my mom gave me badly outdated information about pregnancy and childbirth.

I have made sure that whatever other shortcomings I have as a parent, all my children have/are/will be taught common sense and accurate information about pregnancy/childbirth, parenting, money management, how to freaking file taxes, basic auto and home maintenance, budgeting, cooking, and meal planning.

Also, I love that the internet has made it so much easier to learn what ever you need to know at any time you want it.

 

I really want to grow these. Maybe next year

we have one child. Sar had awful PP Depression which continues. It was unexpected.

Flour, cornmeal, beans (of any kind), rice (bagged/boxed doesn't matter unless in quick serve thingy), sugar, salt, ramen, bread, frozen vegetables have been out and sporadic around here for like 3 weeks... TP and really any paper products are scarce and people get into fights over it...

People gave me evil eyes while toting two shopping carts during my stock up nearly a month ago... Bought for three families and my parents over two days trying to keep everyone from having to get out once the lockdown came.

 

Anyone here ever make homemade pickles? I'm curious if I need a specific type of cucumber.

 

It will, or it won't. But thank you. We were blessed with a gifted child... which is one of those things that sounds like a blessing until you live with the fact that your four year old can give a lecture on emergency preparedness during a tornado. But when he /acts/ like a four year old it catches you off guard.

 

You can pickle pretty much anything you want. Even eggs. Pickled eggs are tasty. I'm kinda ehh on pickled pigs feet, though.

 

my grandad wouldn't let us eat the pigs feet. It had been his family's tradition to donate them to the folks who didn't have a hog to slaughter.

I birthed two and would have been willing to do a third but that was IT for me. However, I had hyperemesis with both of mine so...that is freaking miserable. I will admit to not being prepared for that, but no one is prepared to vomit 17 times per day, even if you're told about it.

Thankfully, I was not given outdated info, and I suppose there is no way to prevent that from happening, but for the most part...I kinda knew what was coming just by paying attention to people around me. My sister was born when I was 14 so I got a pretty up close and personal look at pregnancy.

 

I thought that was only a thing in those BFE country stores that just sat there as like a paper weight.
