    It's funny, because I did basically the exact opposite thing. My wife and I were together for 9 years (married for 7) before we had a baby. It just goes to show, though, that people can make it work in pretty much any situation.

    We are definitely stopping at 1 though, because it's nice finally not being poor. I paid for a $700 car repair with money from our bank account last week....like, it was money that was just there, inexplicably, and it wasn't earmarked for anything else. I was like, who is this guy that didn't have to scrape $200 off of 3 credit cards to pay for this?

    Congratulations! I have a million opposing thoughts about having babies. One of them being that I want to be sure that if I have them, they get to experience my parents as grands, because they will be awesome. I'm sorry that you won't be able to.

    That's such a lovely thing to hear. :) You're definitely right that people really can make it work in nearly any circumstance, if they decide to.

    Currently, my partner and I live in a neighborhood where people regularly get shot, and it's someone else's house. I don't want it to be here. But we're both working really hard to get out of here and into a place more suitable to our goals, and I hope I'll have a similar financial story soon!

    I've been there sista- You'll get out of there eventually! Matt and I grew up in vastly different financial situations, he was going to $$$ private schools and I was....it wasn't good to say the least, so he's constantly upset our nest egg isn't bigger because he is mad he can't buy the new house literally all in cash, and meanwhile I'm just thrilled at being middle class. The fact I can pay my bills and go blow money at Sephora afterwards, and not have to freak out about it still blows my little avian mind.
