Oh, Windows 10. Before you recommend it I'm too lazy to do a system restore at the current moment in time, lol. So that's still on the menu of things to try. I just added a monitor to my setup, and I initially had some problems with it--the monitors were constantly crashing and restarting when I had both plugged into my GPU with an HDMI cord. I have an inkling that that was a problem with my power supply, it's very old and has a low wattage.

I switched the second monitor to run on my CPU with a VGA cable, and I think since then is when the problem started so I believe it has something to do with the dual monitor setup, but of course I'm too lazy to even try shutting the computer down without the dual setup active. Maybe I'll do it now out of embarrassment, I truly was just complaining.

I could sit here and pretend like I wasn't secretly hoping for you to descend from the Heavens and offer some input, but who am I kidding?

Also, you mean the web dev bootcamp is a waste of time if I were only to use it for turking? I am working on a website in my free time so I'd definitely benefit from that and I'll probably buy it if it's that cheap, but yes my intention at this moment in time is to improve my JavaScript skills specifically for MTurk.

    eat spaghetti?

it sounds like the power supply could be causing other issues with too high of draw....BUT
good lord, no id never say to system restore unless its the LAST thing we could do. this more sounds like you have something that corrupted in the code for the shut down programming. tbh id say run SFC or even drivecheck, im sure something super tiny will ping and repair itself . i know for a fact that W7 had that issue that if you accidentally lost power or whatnot while it was running that the shutdown sequence program tended to spaz out and you would get stuck in the problem like you described. of you got other questions/issues, feel free to PM me, ive been repairing computers for like....25 years almost now

I'll check it out, most of the time I play beginner-oriented lectures like this in the background to just solidify my knowledge, but I can say I have had a grasp on the basics for a little while. I just feel like I'm having trouble taking it to the next level. To give some perspective, I am already writing simple scripts for MTurk--I just feel like I've hit a block and can't figure out how to expand my skillset now. Maybe I just need to get better at abstract thinking so I can create problems on MTurk that need solving...

EDIT: Or I could get a real job, but who even does that anymore?

Haha it's funny you say that because every other forum I go on is usually adamant that system restore to an earlier version of Windows usually fixes the problem because one of the newer updates causes some small issue. I have that problem with my graphics drivers sometimes but I don't think I've ever solved an issue with system restore lol. Was just parroting what I had read already.

EDIT: I'll try some of the things you suggested. I'm happy to try anything that doesn't require me to shut off my computer or unplug anything

yeah no tbh ive used system restore maybe....a dozen times since it was brought into windows. its not reliable and a lot of times its hardware issues and restoring just overlays a good system file on top of bad hardware so you are back to square 1.
