Yeah, pretty sure it's a hardware thing. I jerry-rigged this misfit of a computer a while back and it's sketchy but it gets the job done lol.

Yeah I totally see where you're coming from, I think I'm far along enough to know that learning certain things are completely irrelevant. That's also why I've picked up front-end development as sort of a hobby that I'm hoping to incorporate into my business eventually, because it all SLIGHTLY ties together. It's not JUST for MTurk, I also have aspirations that are completely separate that these skills would help me achieve, but I would love to be able to use it in the MTurk world as well.

But I guess that gets more towards the question I'm asking. How can I take my scripting skills to the next level? I'm not trying to be the guy that comes and asks, "How can I write scripts that make me more money?"--That's definitely not what I'm trying to ask, at least not up front lol. I'm happy to do the heavy lifting myself because I am also applying these skills to other aspects of my career. I'm interested in learning and contributing more, just a little lost on where to start. Because like you said, I could read a bunch of books on JS and watch countless lectures and there's only so much I can apply to MTurk. I've already learned that much on my own.

I'm definitely trying to broaden my skillset for the purpose of "taking the reigns" more so to speak, because I just feel like I've peaked when it comes to finding a HIT, thinking up a script for it, and trawling through forum posts about JQuery until I've got a working script. Hackathon-esque stuff you mentioned that I run out of ideas for very quickly. I just feel like if I had a broader knowledge of the language itself that I could maybe think more abstractly in terms of useful scripts that could not only benefit me, but the community (your work, for instance).

EDIT: To put it in perspective, I run a digital media collective as a career. I make less money with this than with MTurk, but it's getting there. I'm hoping to learn better JS (or whatever would benefit me) to both help me seek some loose part time job opportunities and improve my productivity on MTurk in the meantime, and even incorporate it into some of the art I create. I look at complicated scripts like yours and wonder about how the knowledge required to write such scripts would both help me navigate MTurk, learn some skills that I can expand my business with (web dev), AND seek part time job opportunities with flexible employers. That's obviously the pipe dream rendition of it, but with what I've achieved so far I know most of it is possible, I just need better direction. I could be wrong too though, lol.

The nature of the work I do for the collective gets in the way of working a 9-5, being on payroll, being on someone else's time, etcetera. I don't talk about this a lot so it's hard to put into words and I tend to ramble.
