Nah much younger than that. My kid was doing her laundry by 8.



I obviously don't make her do everything all the time, but she can proficiently do all those and was able to by age 10. Except mow the lawn. Daddy doesn't let anyone mow the lawn. He even cries inside when I do it. Some shit about lines or something. Anyways, I wanted to make sure my kid could 1000000000% take care of herself so she didn't end up in a bad relationship just to make sure she was taken care of.

Don't encourage them. Babies and shit and ironing made the guys run. Go with it.

 

I do agree that getting kids to help out around the house is good. Get the life skills ingrained at an early age so when they're on their own they can take care of themselves a bit better. It's especially useful when half to three fourths the mess is theirs anyway.

 

It's definitely a there are levels kind of things, cause I still don't let the kid dust my computer and if she's lucky and bribes me with good chocolate and a drink I'll let her use it. lmfao But yeah once they learn and get better they can move up in "levels". I always tried to make it fun and explained why we did what we did because having a clean home is part of a healthy life style. Now I am not perfect and my house gets pretty messy sometimes, but she has the life skills and between us we can get it knocked out in no time. most of the time we keep up with it so she learns a little a day goes a long way.

I don't know anyone that does.

M8 you realize kids not too long ago only kept getting popped out because farming was hard AF w/o them lol

Mine isn't even two yet and can clean counters (and more importantly LOVES cleaning the cabinets which is sick AF because bending over to do it is lame), fully washes herself in the shower, she runs the cheapo robot vac 3x/day which is effing great. Will clean up her own spills and if I drop water on the floor demands a towel to clean it up. She'll mop if I give her the supplies. She cleans all the clothes off the floor and puts stuff in the hamper as needed. Unloads the dishwasher and only very rarely puts thing in the wrong place (silverware organization is a struggle, but all floor level pots/pans are currently making it to the correct places).

Gotta hold her for it but she'll even do laundry. With a step stool she'd be able to do most of it outside of pouring the detergent herself.

Kids that young don't know it's "chores", literally the most fun she has in a day is getting to clean something the majority of chore level stuff she understands she can complete just as well as mommy/daddy would.. some legitimately better (..cabinets.. fuck cleaning cabinets.)
