Yup. All self reported. You check off when you complete something.

They have a social section, where there are Guilds. I joined the TV/Movie one and they run challenges. When you join a challenge, it adds everything on the challenge list to your own list and you check off as you complete the things. It only shows those specific things on the list to the other people in the challenge so all your other things (like showering) are kept private. Then, at the end of the challenge, everyone who's done everything gets put into a pool and random winners get gems, which is the site currency.

While self reported, the Movie guild does require you to keep an public IMDB list to show what you watched as well as asks you to give a small review of each. So like if the theme is Oscar winners, you'd post the review itself to the forum area. It's a little more work and doesn't guarantee people not cheating, but it makes it slightly less likely. But since the winner only gets fake money, only sad people try to game the system.

That would be me. I'd need to put something easy like putting on pants on my to do list then. Hmm, wait, I have enough trouble with that as it is. Maybe "sit in front of computer" is best.

Two of my dallies are "Drink an extra glass of water" and "Get 10 minutes sun". I don't have issues with the water, but going outside for 10 minutes is a real chore sometimes.

Im going cuz I feel like living in japan for a while pretty much :cj:

well if you have the accomodations covered already thats the biggest part of your budget pretty much.
for flights use http://www.momondo.com/ and http://matrix.itasoftware.com/#calendar:research=ORDOKA
those will help you find the cheapest days to fly and the cheapest flights which make a huge difference by like usually 100+ dollars
from my persistent checking you likely wont get anything lower than 1200~ there and back
you have a lot of time so heres a site about getting credit card miles which can obviously make your flight cost SO MUCH less
    http://extrapackofpeanuts.com/best-current-deals/
    http://www.frugaltravelguy.com/rewards-cards/airline-cards
all you do is get a card and pay the minimum required for the reward, grab the reward and cancel the card before you have to pay a yearly cost.
opening new cards doesnt have a negative impact on your credit score because your paying off a card on time (thats a lot of peoples concern)

food there are tons of options. id say itll be reasonably easy to figure out once you get there and try out different things.
One big thing if your trying to keep food costs low are half price bento boxes. Supermarkets close to the end of the day mark down their bento boxes and the food is like a real meal pretty much. If your there for a month youll be able to try getting food from all different places and see "oh that cost me a lot oh i have a lot of money left after that" set a daily food budget and see how you can keep it. of course splurge at appropriate times and enjoy more costly japanese food but unlike here in the states you dont have to pay a lot of money to get good food when you go out.

I use evernote for my grocery lists. My shopping route takes me to 2 or 3 stores (First: Fresh Fruit/Veggie place that's super cheap, awesome, and the food is actually fresh, Second: Aldi for most things that are left on my list, Third: Big grocery store for anything that couldn't be found at the first two), and I have a template made that takes me through the first two stops aisle by aisle and section by section. It took a little work to put together and to enter in, but the reduced hassle and free-range shopping has made up for that in both money and time.

I haven't looked into shopping list apps much, but it would be cool if there was one that kept things in the order you would get to them in the store.

I do that with Out of Milk. The app has an auto categorize feature and you can custom arrange the categories on the list. I've got it in the order that the store is arranged.

talking to a stranger for just 15 lines takes longer than I thought. Liked it better when they disconnected immediately lol.

edit: The available hits seems to be going up though.

I just use the Reminders iOS app, and it gets bonus points for syncing to my macbook. I doubt there's a windows app for it though, so I'd say using google or Evernote like everyone else has said. I used to love Evernote but it seems kind of clunky to me now. I rock list-making like you do, and anything simple that syncs to the most places is what wins for me.
