I read it the whole time thinking Mindsparks and if it is something of that pay level broken up, then it's doable. He said some of them are hard and buried in forums, so one would expect to start at 50 cents plus per hit if you're digging that deep. A penny a pop, raised to 3 for hard ones and no pay for not found, that'll sink him quick. But who am I kidding, the TO will tank, but if it's qualled people will do it just because they have a qual.

Whew, took me a minute, but I'm 99% sure this is who you're talking about:

    Bobak Pakzad-Hurson (ADWAGY233P6GW)
Assign workers! Management task - Must be available to begin at 4AM UTC, Dec 18th 0.65

I got into the managing side. Only like 1/5 workers showed up for me so I didn't do particularly well, but decent for the amount of effort I needed to put in.

I think that's the second account he used according to my research. The one before that was like Sophie something (don't quote me, I'm bad at those guesses). People said those two got banned. The one he uses now is the James account.

I remember people talking about that HIT - supposedly it was a huge mess, the TO was a disaster, and the whole HIT was just horribly guided and a mess. Probably one of the worse requesters on mTurk.

Interestinggg. I'm not really sure why they're getting the b&hammer, my only guess is that MTurk is figuring out that they're essentially taking work off-platform and avoiding fees. :dunno:

Yep, it was pretty messy. I remember @dan got an exceptional bonus for working the manager side in a previous run. That being said, 5 mins of chatting with someone and ~10 mins of legwork for a $5 bonus is decent. Definitely not touching anything they put out ever again, though.

I didn't think it was anything like Mindsparks because of the need to have variable searches. MS is painfully straightforward, its all on one website, and its just mindless click/copy/paste work. If he's expecting people to go digging through the dredges of Google cache its way closer to VRAPI than MS. I'd agree w/ the MS thing if he had a set search expectation but it didn't sound like that from the way I read it :S I wish requesters would post examples of their tasks haha!

The big thing is though if you give workers a 'cannot be found' button on a task like that you're screwed from the get-go. I've spoken to numerous reqs who have people who either outright scam it or the really smart ones (and the ones who completely destroy the entire project) lie on a certain % of HITs. So they'll do 5-6 correctly then just auto-mark 1 or 2 as 'cannot be found' and enjoy a "free" 20% pay bump :emoji_unamused:

Weeding those out is incredibly difficult with variable search tasks, and doing so guarantees your TO is going to get tanked anyway (RIP Eitan).

Just try to imagine VRAPI w/ a "can't be identified button" - so many people would use it and then folks like you going over those answers would probably laugh and reject 90% of them immediately hahaha.

@ChrisTurk I'm gonna start posting these now cuz of you :emoji_yum:

The following is a summary of activity for your Mechanical Turk account for the week ending May 13, 2017.

Your HIT activity for this week:
    - Number of HITs submitted: 2,072

Approvals and payments that occurred this week:
    - Number of HITs approved: 1,749
    - Number of HITs rejected: 14
    - Bonus reward earned: $9.77
    - HIT reward earned: $385.05
    - Total Amount earned this week: $394.82

Most rejections were from our bff Verity, one was a bugged HIT that submitted in the iframe after clicking next for the instructions. :dunno: but not worth my time. Trying to break into the triple-digit rejection club. Not even averaging a whole rejection per week, gotta step up my game. :emoji_smirk_cat:

Yes that is it! Thanks! Yes, I got in on their 2nd batch as a manager ( after the original mess) and did very well for 30 minutes of work.

I "caught " the James hit this week and sent it back when I saw what it was.. way too much work for a "maybe".

That and some other issues. They commonly ask for Paypal information to send payment there, and some people mentioned that they ask for that and other information in the shared documents where people bid on the jobs or something. So, everyone who's a part of the document can see your Paypal, MTurk ID, and whatever other info they require you to share. The three TOs I found are riddled with different concerns.
