    If you just started out, yes and no. Requesters use quals for tailoring their HITs (e.g. age group). Quals can also be used to keep people from accepting that HIT again. Quals can also be used to block people. Make sure you are doing as many HITs as you can to boost your numbers. Also check https://turkerview.com/qualifeye/?r=mts to boost some of your quals.
