I believe you mean the hemostat? Since they're doing robotic surgery through as minimally invasive of an opening as possible, they're using plastic clamp-like hemostats instead of the traditional scissor-like metal ones. They seem to work just fine, though, since the pressure generated via blood vessels usually isn't strong enough to force the little plastic bit off.
