If you don't mind me asking, how did they test to diagnose you in particular if you know?

I've kind of suspected I've been insulin resistant for a while. Much of my family has it. I get extreme hunger bouts, and I eat a full satisfying meal, and it simply makes me hungrier and gives me extreme irritability where I have to just go for a walk because I just feel this weird sense of hunger and enrangement and irritability to the point of wanting to lash out at nothing. It's not constant. Sometimes once a week. Sometimes everyday for a week. Sometimes 2 years will pass. It's led to pretty strange weight gains and losses throughout the past decade. I've mentioned it to current doctors and they all simply say, maybe dehydration or anxiety. And despite me telling them that it's not mental and I'm hydrated, it's a very physical feeling - they shrug it off. I get my A1C tests and glucose fasting tests, and I'm always at the high end of before diagnosing as pre-diabetic. And that seems to be all that they want to use. I sort of suspect insulin resistance of some sort. I bought a prick monitor a bit back and I get readings that are generally ok, but sometimes totally off the charts and radical. It's very hard to navigate the healthcare system and get approvals for certain tests, finding doctors, etc... It's all overwhelming.

The reason I bring it up, is the first time I saw a doctor in decades was to go to an eye doctor before a vacation, 2020 I think, because I wanted to get glasses and experience nature's beauty. It was wal-mart. The doctor mentioned something was off and if I have a PCP. Something about nerve endings or vessels and asking if I have glaucoma. I don't really recall. It's walmart. I am on a conveyor belt of patients getting their 100 dollar glasses, so I wasn't really able to ask many questions as I was both ready to get the fuck out of there, and they were equally ready to get me the fuck out of there.

I feel I should take one of those tests where they have you drink an amount of sugar and then test you after an hour or two to get an accurate diagnosis of any insulin resistance. Through my own at home tests, my 2 hour window after meal test is always pretty high, but it seems doctors don't really care to listen that it's a legitimate concern of mine. They got another patient to deal with. - they basically say "your A1C is fine, see you in a couple weeks."
