Tool is playing there tonight if that's your thing. I almost had a friends/wives Montreal road trip set up for it.

Like any old city, there are a lot of cool site-seeing opportunities. Downtown is very walkable. If you are into the club scene, you have a TON of options. The area around Mcgill University is very English-speaking, but 99.9% of people there are bi-lingual anyways....if they don't speak English to you, that's their snobby side coming out. In my experience, they also don't appreciate a poor attempt at speaking french, so just stick with English unless you happen to be fluent.

My #1 recommendation (which @Polar Bear and @Girl Polar Bear ignored ) is to hit up Schwartz's Deli (https://schwartzsdeli.com/ca/en/). If you can handle it, ask for a fatty cut of their smoked meat sandwich...it's one of the top 3 best-tasting things I have ever eaten. If you enjoy it as much as I did, they also have a little store attached where you can take home a brisket.
