08/06 - Underwear Wednesday

Look out for Fraunhofer IIS, Listening test for audio quality, which is listed as paying $5.34. I got all the way through the damn thing which took almost half an hour including the listening test and training phase, then at the end, it thanked me and told me I could now close the window. Problem was, the window was the HIT!!! There was no way to submit! The It's Broke script didn't do anything either. It's not a case of clicking a survey link instead of opening the link in a new tab. The HIT is designed to only work within the HIT frame. I wrote to the requester. There were only 10 minutes left on the clock. Of course it expired.

 

Yes I've seen that too, but in my two cases on Wednesday, I really did get into the actual study about the actual research topic, and I completed all the research questions and all the writing about the study topics.

At the very end, after completing all the actual study questions, the system determined that a completion quota was full (probably it filled up from other faster workers finishing and submitting while I was working on the tasks), so my input was presumably discarded, and apparently I won't be paid for those tasks.

It's unfortunate that quotas can fill while you're working on a task. Apparently that platform waits until you complete the entire task, before the system re-checks the quota and may then discard all your input if the quota filled up while you were working the task?

So you could spend 15 minutes, half an hour, an hour, two hours, whatever ... only to find out at the end that your work will be discarded, unpaid? That kind of disappointment is part of life with some platforms.
