And using TTS alerts is game changing. @Kadauchi would agree with that.

It allows you to passively do other things (including taking naps like I do while using soundwire) while still being alerted if something big pops up... at the same time you can shrug off doing things like pins if you aren't in the mood to do them or whatever.

edit: Just remember for overwatch you need to log into worker.mturk as well for it to work. And that has the added benefit of not sharing PREs with the main mturk pool.

 

Do you ever find yourself logged out and it doesn't alert you? Aside from the very first time I started it up and got the logout message, I have never seen it again. I actually just missed grabbing more Robin pandas and that PFA panda due to that issue and being logged out.

 

Well, I like to brag about him whenever I get the chance! You should totally get your license! Especially if you work at an airport, it makes it way easier when you know a lot of people. I doubt I would have 1/10th of the flight time if I wasn't friendly with so many people who own cool planes/live with one. It's so much fun too!

TTS = Text to Speech.

It is when the computer reads text aloud so you know exactly what pops up instead of just a bleep or bloop. For example when robin williams pops up it says 'robin williams" x 15 times or however many times it posts lol.

 

Pilots don't like seeing the fire dept show up... But I'll have to ask around. I don't know if many of them around here are instructors though.

I should be getting a phone after the new year, so I'm excited to implement this stuff (though I don't know about text to speech... I can't handle my phone doing more than vibrating lol). It'll be nice to know about batches when I'm away from the computer.

 

Even if they aren't instructors, getting flying time and learning with a pilot who is friendly and willing to hang out with you will save a lot of time and effort! I learned to fly with the fiance before dealing with instructors and everything went easily because of it. A lot of pilots are out for fun or keeping their hours up and happy to have company in a 2 seater in exchange for good company and beers later. If you were down here I could set you up but sadly that's not so! Keep the dream alive homey!

 

I'm not sure why that would get you thrown out of your house.

Any cheap android phone would be able to work with soundwire. I'm sure there is a way to code your own thing to do the same thing soundwire does.. but it is a thing that is more complicated then even the scripts that @Kadauchi (as far as I am aware) has made with audio compression to allow for areas with bad wifi signal to still work ect so it is easier to just use something that is already made.

 

TTS is awesome. I do prefer pushbullet over having my phone calling it out with soundwire though.

 

Some folks here are a little touchy about noise. And i just had a vision of the thing yelling Zoltar! at 8 am lol

 

Doesn't pushbullet require you to read what is listed. That is my thing with TTS, it has the least amount of attention required but gives you a lot of information.

For example if you are cooking you can't exactly look down on your phone to see what is posted (or taking a nap) but you will be able to hear what is posted and decide if you want to go do it very quickly.

I am kind of the same way but I almost always use headphones. I actually use an app called sleep on android or something like that so my alarms only go through my earbuds.

The only time I have sound coming out through 'speakers' of some sort is when I am doing something like cooking or watching TV/Anime with my brother.

 

I always try to catch these, never ends up working -- I'm thinking it's the TM thing.

Someone has some kind of script that's auto-accepting HIT's that meet certain criteria(or something). Whenever there's a $1+ survey posted, it gets snapped up very fast, like by the time the TM noise goes off, it's gone. Pretty sure some people are either getting alerted to the HIT early or they have some kind of auto-accept setup(I remember a rumor going around that some people did have this script, no tin foil)

Anyways, yeah, this was going on before overwatch was released so it's probably not connected with people using that script now

 

How do I get the thing to run? Keep getting the 'Overwatch has been halted, please check your loggin status on both sites.' I've reopen Mturk and https://worker.mturk.com/overwatch and nothing.

Yeah, but its a quick glance. I'm either going to be close enough to my computer to hear it called out or I'm going to check my phone's/watch's notification anyways and not want to have matches real aloud. Napping there is a good chance the sound will wake you, but you won't exactly recall what it was. If you can't spare a second to check while cooking its not gonna matter what is posted anyways imo.
