^^^ This. My brother in law is painfully skinny. Like you just want to feed him a sandwich because you can see his ribs, but he has all kinds of health issues with BP, cholesterol. etc... Being skinny does not mean you are healthy. Even though I'm nearly twice his size I don't have any of those problems. My losing weight is just to be more comfortable and active than anything else. The real problem is that we don't educate kids, we coddle them and feed them, whatever they want to eat to avoid fighting with them about eating veggies and then send them off to school where the food is an absolute joke. Subpar nutrition and vast array of junk food. Not to mention pop and juice machines in the hallways. They develop bad habits that they spend their adults lives trying to overcome. I wish my mom had been a lot stricter with the way we ate as kids.

    USA! USA! USA!

Right now it looks close to this:
    upload_2017-6-13_10-8-15.png

The above is kinda butchered because my big crock pot died (RIP Daisy, 2015-2017) so I've been stuck prepping 4 days out instead of a week, probably in 2-3 weeks I'll scale it back up to 2600cal/day for 2-3 weeks then go back to slight surplus (& normal food from time to time, YAY).

Its not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, and don't forget the greenery (I'm lazy and didn't move a lot of stuff over from my old doc). @Mothra if you haven't posted it yet I'd love to see your setup.. I'm always down to improve but I haven't spent any time researching in probably 6mo+.

Fate is a Grinch, you can't fight her - she has genetics & plain old bad luck on her side. But you can kick lack of willpower in the teeth to make yourself feel better about it all. :emoji_sweat_smile:

Oooh, I love this. We have made my son eat a variety of foods since he switched from baby food to real food. If he doesn't like a food, he tries it again in a year because he might like it then. I had a coworker amazed that my son eats salmon, asparagus, brussell sprouts, any part of a chicken, artichokes, green beans, shrimp, any piece of fruit or berry, etc. She was like, "I can't get my daughter to eat anything other than McDonald's Happy Meals." And I was like... um... but you're the parent. Why aren't you doing your job?

Fruits and veggies are expensive. My kids love them. If I make a roast, i have to buy 6 lbs of carrots, because my kids will eat one pound while I peel them. My middle child once ate a jalepeno pepper because I had cut it up and walked and he thought it was his beloved bell pepper. On saturday, I purchased 3 lbs of apples, and 12 bananas, and 2 cantaloupes, a bagged salad and some baby carrots, an it is all gone as soon as of this morning. You can't address what kids are eating and their weight, without addressing poverty first. It is all interconnected.

My sister would literally make three different meals every night when her kids were little just to avoid a tantrum. A friend of ours has kind of an odd kid but since she was on solid foods they have always given her lots of fresh food and almost no junk food. She didn't even taste soda until she was nine. Now that kid would pick a plate of broccoli over a candy bar any day of the week.

Matt just eats and drinks like shit when I'm not around and it's biting him in the ass as he gets older. Perhaps eating two pizzas for lunch at least once a week was a poor decision? Go figure go figure.

He will then fuss over the like...one slice of bacon I added to his dinner once this week. Cause, Matt shit.

My dad pulled the, "if you don't like it, make your own dinner," tactic cause I was a picky eater and he assumed that like my sister, I would just eat what I was given. Instead, I just stomped off and would cook for myself some days and eventually cooked dinner for everyone once or twice a week. As long as I was eating healthy enough, I was free to feed myself and my friends. It worked out well for everyone involved! I'm sure if he hadn't let me follow him around so much when he was cooking meals or hadn't convinced me that tomato juice made you smarter, I might not have had the urge to cook meals at home rather than eat junk food/fast food.
