Speaking of kitties, thank you everyone for your help last night. The kitty is good and getting along with the puppers.

I keep reading that the kitty litter is something I am going to have to experiment with. What do yo guys use?

For a kitten you want to use either shredded newspaper, or non-clumping.

Precious Cat Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter is what I've been using for some time now. I was trying a lot of the store brand crap but having a lot of trouble with it. I finally got this one and the biggest reason why I love it, is it isn't dusty as some of the other ones I've used where I would dump some into the tray and a dust cloud would form. Also since I put a mat down under the box I don't have her tracking litter all over the damn house.

She is used to sand, as we are near the beach. Is non-clumping similar to that?

I set up a little box with sand and she used it almost immediately and then went back again this morning.

 

It's less prone to cause trouble for kittens. You can switch to clumping when she grows up a little.

 

Until a certain age you want to stick with something like yesterday's news or shredded paper or whatnot because the clumping particles can get in their teeny holes and it ain't pretty when that happens. They can also eat it and it clumps inside them. I had a kitten do this via crawling over to the bigger cat's litter box and just eating it and the result was very very awful. Once they are big enough, you can switch over to clumping no problemo.

Otherwise I usually use Tidy Cats 24/7 but I'll use something different occasionally when it's on sale. I avoid freshpet because the only times I've used it, it lasted about 5 seconds for me and the whole house smelled/was filled with dust.

I don't know anything about kitties, so don't listen to me! I hadn't thought it would be different than an adult cat, silly me. My cat adopted me when she was roughly 8 months so I didn't have to worry over much with kitten stuff.
