Plus, requesters will see a quick completion time and think they're overestimating their pay, and lower it. Or they'll see they're getting shit data and, again, either lower pay or stop using mturk altogether. Not to mention they enforce those arbitrary "minimum completion times" which also rejects people who truly do read quickly but actually puts the effort in. It's all in all a bad, bad idea. It's even worse to brag about it on a forum where people take this work seriously for their livelihood. You keep your dollars, I'll keep my integrity. And my dollars that I worked for.

should I write down the earnings that I made so far for tax purposes or Mturk is sending some kind of end-year report?

IIRC at the end of January you'll be able to see it on your dashboard by expanding the Total Earnings line. It will show you what you made in 2016. I keep track of it myself as well.

I'll delete what I said in that case. I was just trying to help out newbies. Didn't mean for it to turn into this kinda thing.

Also, I never said I don't pay attention. I don't have many rejections so I don't think requesters think I'm not either. I just see patterns and know how to answer them after 50x of answering the same question. I know my opinion because I've been asked it so many times.

There has to be a happy median- I am so pokey on surveys and it always takes me longer than everyone else- I think too much sometimes- and as far as the self evaluation questions- I answer depending on my mood or view of life at the moment. Exceptions are in general type questions- but I still think about it as I am answering.

I definitely understand what you're saying though. You've done enough where you have a sort of muscle memory for completing them. Not that your work is any less quality, just you've answered the same questions 10,000 times over. Me too, it's that exact consistency in the surveys that drive me nuts though. :kappa:

I don't know if it's been posted earlier, but it's a good PSA, so why not.

It's Sunday, 1st day of the week, month AND year. Backup all your turking stuff! :)

EDIT: Sorry, CL had a good post on the previous page.

I appreciate that you see it our way, but it's kind of ironic that you'd say requesters don't see your 'patterns' just minutes after you posted that Ben Peterson flagged your responses for seeing a pattern.

I really meant for people to search around and figure these things out, they will learn much better that way. Turking is not just about sitting on a forum waiting for others to hand you an answer. If you are using these scripts, then play with them, push the buttons, see how things work. There are several scripts that have extensive help pages on various forums (PC somewhere on MTC?), Greasey Fork (checkout the listings here, many have help links), or Youtube (OW) (HITDB) (TM).

Anyway here is the last piece of the puzzle But if you're new please go read these help files.

    PC:

    Select Jobs tab
    Select Export tab
    Select Export To File
Copy to wherever you are saving.

I too see the irony in that. :behindsofa: The thing is we think in patterns... I'm not making up anything or filling it out randomly. I know how I think. Ben Peterson even said, "These may be your honest responses but they follow a pattern". He's right.

I'm done with this. I just wanted to give people advice and I'm not really sure how it backfired on me. Also the "dirty hippie" thing someone else said and calling me an "elitist" when I was just trying to give advice is not really helpful. I try to be really friendly on here because I genuinely like this forum and have been helped out by many of its members but I feel pretty disrespected. I didn't insult anyone (though I'll admit there was some snark) and didn't expect to get flak for giving my honest strategy.

Have a nice new year y'all. I know how to make myself scarce.
