01/03 - Tackling Tuesday!

I didn't spend a ton of time with the older versions. I used HS for awhile but while HF is similar I think it's designed better and has a lot more features like filtering based on TO score, and the include exclude list is nice. I never really used HM so can't really give a good comparison there.

 

I changed to OW and like it better. It's more 'user friendly', and it works on worker.mturk, so it isn't crushing you with PRE's if you are running a bunch of panda's as well. I do like that HM would text me when a hit came up and I was away from my computer, but I know a lot of folks have a work around for that. I just haven't taken the time to really check since I've had a house full of sick people for a couple of weeks and turking has taken a back seat.

I have a few things on PC, and like how it works, but I agree with throwing survey's onto TM. But, like I said, I haven't had time to really mess around with things yet. I haven't even looked at MTS more than downloading it.

 

Now I'm kind of curious why people prefer TM over PC for survey's though...

TM was never a great option for me, as it rarely seemed to catch what I was looking for. I used it mainly for searching by $ amount. I will say in fairness that I never bothered to get too deep into it's finer workings, but PC just seems so easy to me. Click a button and have it automatically starting hunting something. I can Panda a batch or just hit once for surveys and the like. Plus I don't like the interface for TM it messes up my dashboard lol.

 

TM, imo, is more customizable and a lot more lightweight. I can fine tune it down to exactly what I want instead of picking pre-set cycles that may or may not work with my set up. There is just so much extra crap on PC. I don't need like rock interludes and 1000000 buttons. Just need it to find stuff and catch stuff.

But, also, I'm working on a small laptop with one screen so my resources are limited. TM fits on a page that I already have running rather than needing its own tab full of crap I'm not going to use.

 

TM seems to be better at catching surveys when they first pop up if you have a watcher going by $ amount.

If it's a lower paying survey, but you still want to do it, it may not be worth an entire panda slot on PC, so you may be better off just trying to catch it with your TM watcher. If it's a 5/5 pay survey, that's when I'll throw it on PC.

 

I like PC because it thinks for me and adjusts for PREs.

Speaking of which, I like Rush and all, but have you figured out how to stop the sounds, other than right click on the Panda?

Good Morning All! Was off again for the new year and with a sick 2 yr old Back to work....did I miss anything good? Happy New Year

 

I've only seen where you can replace it with other sounds and they have to be a certain length. But that may have changed. Haven't checked since it was first released.

 

I have most of my sound dinging scripts running in chrome and I right click the tab and just mute it to stop annoying stuff I dont want to hear. But that stops all sounds, not sure if it uses other ones you'll need as I havent tried that script yet.

 

That is what the lab coats always say at least.

You prob should have slept in then... oh well at least you didn't have to feel rushed going to work.

nah I'm fine. It was amusing seeing my brother up still after I got up to make some breakfast though. He went to bed shortly after I started cooking.

It might be a bit expensive for me to keep flying over to cook every morning and then flying back, but we could always see if we can make it work =p

It has been pretty dead.. so as far as times for your 2 year old to get sick it was a fairly good time to do it as far as mturk goes.

Yea thanks for the replies to my question as well. I may eventually mess with TM again, but for now I keep enough running lol. Sounds like folks like TM mostly because it's slimmed down interface. I prefer PC because of the bells and whistles and it's being on its own tab.

Do yourself a favor and just replace the sounds altogether. You can use Wav or MP3 and I think once you set them you don't have to keep the files where they were, but I'm not 100% on that. I much prefer the sounds I have now, they are short and attention getting but not super annoying.
