    Anyone have tips on teaching a puppy no? He learned sit incredibly easy but it's so hard to get him to stop doing something

    I've been using treats and that worked well for sit but I wasn't sure what kind of things to do for no. Do I just tell him no and if he stops I give him the treat?

    It's about the tone of your voice, not necessarily the volume. A firm "no" works. Then if he stops, tell him he's a good boy, pet him and distract with a toy or something. If he starts heading to the area where he does bad things, warn him again.

    I personally disagree with this, as you'd be rewarding bad behavior. But :dunno:

    Yeah and just diverting his attention away from the bad thing he's doing with the treat will be effective in itself. If it gets bad don't be too afraid to put him in a few minute time out. Some puppies are stubborn and will need it. I know mine had to be put in time out quite a few times before she started listening.
