    I mean, I know some western NYers say pop and NYC/LI people say soda so it def happens. When my sister went to college, she was immediately confused. People also said, "piece of pizza," WHICH IS A CRIME AGAINST PIZZA AND THEREFORE HUMANITY YOU SICK FREAKS!
