Its a pain to have it in more than one spot.

 

would it be possible to leave it in the menu and remove it in the settings? That way it's only in one place?

 

No because the options would be split and would be even more annoying.

 

is there a way to make the old version available for people who don't want all the fancy new updates? It is really problematic where it is now. I switch between batches and surveys frequently and it's jacking up my return rates a lot now

 

You don't have to do it properly. A good ghetto way would be to have a button in the dropdown that would trigger the button in the main settings.

this is more than not liking a change though, this is actually effecting the way I do my work. I either forget to go in and turn it off, and double accept surveys and not realize until after I accidentally do them, or I start going gungho on a batch just to realize I forgot to turn it back on. because having to open another tab to get to it slows my computer down and is annoying to remember to keep doing it.

 

No. Your return rate means nothing unless you are frequently capping.
