I couldn't fathom doing it even if it was my 50th home. Unless I was just so rich that I was buying my 50th home at once and was just tired of having money. Nah even then seems stupid.

I would literally kill someone to get taxes that low. My taxes are "low" at $8500/year.

When I was a teenager, my parents did something similar. I don't think Zillow was around then, so they only saw a few pictures. We had a family member that lived in the same town (we lived in California, and the house was in Nebraska) that went by and looked at it and basically said "yeah it looks alright".

I mean, it wasn't the worlds greatest house, but it was fine. It was like $30k for the 4 bedroom house and it wasn't run down or anything... just old and needed some new appliances and paint and carpet.

My grandmother in law bought a house, gutted it to the studs, and rebuilt it and we had the chance to buy it at about 50% of the market value. We declined because A) it has a terrible layout in the kitchen which we warned her about, B) it's next door to my in laws, and most importantly C) 3MB DSL is the fastest internet available because it's in the sticks. Nah bruh I'm good. Once you she passed my father in law gave it to my husband and his brother. Now his brother will pay rent to us for the next ten years til he has paid for my husbands half. I'm cool with that lol.

I'm trying to stick to areas that are $1200-$1600 in annual taxes. I thought $4k was bad. I'm so sorry for your loss (of money).

I'm firing off this email to Elizabeth:

While I was taking your course, I was near the end (I think either page 6 or 7 when I received this error)

I submitted with my mturk ID: [redacted]

I did not have time to restart the test over again, as I had already spent over 30 minutes on it.

To be fair, I was puttering around on the forums and crap but still.

I literally can't process this. That's like $700 a month. My mortgage including taxes and insurance is $861 a month. This is the only reason I don't leave this festering shithole of a state lol.

My taxes are high at $1600/year. But my grandfather had this fun this he likes to do, where he would buy multiple plots in subdivision areas and then build a little on each plot, so each plot gets taxed individually.

Similar to what mine will be. $851 everything included, but we will get a $35 auto insurance discount, so that's even better! We're currently paying $975 for rent on it.
