Ok I am addicted to getting everything setup...lol...I just had a thought while cleaning.....

How long do you guys hold onto Panda's for requestors? I mean I have some that I don't think have posted since I liked the HITs and grabbed it. I want to clean up my list.....I know I can check Turkopicon to see when the posted last but how long should I hold onto them

Depends on the type of work and its value.. I hold onto requesters who post batches forever 'cause I always want to know if they come back and a requester watch doesn't cost anything but a few tenths of a millisecond. Surveys.. I'm lazy (and hate surveys) so if I don't catch it on post I rarely keep the panda unless someone on the forum leaves a not so cryptic "DO THIS HIT" comment on it lol. I've seen some people who keep pandas for high value surveys going for weeks though.

Really need to work on my motivation.

But random arbitrary goal met: Pending (1000 ≥ 99%) (5475 ≥ 95%) Scared money means nothing now.

On the upside, I am finally getting serious about the whole budgeting thing. If anyone else is super bad at it like I am, a really good app I've started using is Wally. No math or logging into your accounts, just type in what you spend, what you make and it does the rest. Complete with circle charts so I can have a heart attack over how much I spend on food each week.

Going on day two here without internet service, apparently it's pretty wide spread for at&t fiber optics. Wondering if anyone else here has the same problem?

Just create a folder in PC named something like archive and toss them in there. I try to create Panda groups for different requester when possible to keep things semi organized.

    .
I actually got into budgeting last year and built my own excel spreadsheet with different tabs that tracks everything for me all in one place and completely customized to my needs. Even has a tab for goals on mturk and what those funds should go to.

Ok maybe a stupid question...I am going to try pandacrazy at home and TM at work as I have been to see which I like better. I currently have TM installed at home. Can I just turn it off and install pandacrazy or do I have to uninstall it?

I use two computers to turk, each on their own network. I can assure you that PRE's will still come, I think it logs the username not the IP. So many PRE's it was impossible to work. This was just my experience though.

I leave them both turned on or as I prefer to say enabled. But I rarely run both at the same time.

As an addendum to yesterday's update on Thread Live Update, I've lowered the timeout on it to 3 hours. So if no new posts are made on a thread for 3 hours, it'll stop updating it. Essentially this means once the daily thread is locked it'll kill itself (RIP). Life is worth living, unless you're a database hungry javascript file. I'm considering a time/date based execution instead but for now this'll do.

Mostly this makes more sense since the daily thread closes 3AM EST, and folks sign on for that sweet Zoltar rush between 7-8AM EST, so as new users are logging in for the day the old "clingers" to the last daily thread will drop off while still providing a 'fail-safe' for any instance where a new daily thread isn't made. Hopefully this alleviates the issues with morning crashes/slow downs.

Other than that, considering I did nothing major to impact the website between yesterday and today, I still have 0 reason why all the issues occurred yesterday and I'm chalking it up to "act of God." Like I said, the server ran fine all week with probably close to 2x the load on it M/T/W, so I got zilch as far as good explanations go :(

With all that said, there are still 2-3 "power clingers" hanging around right now.. They account for about 20% of today's total requests.. One of them is an active participant on the forum, the other has never said a word. Kadauchi's bot is a bandwidth hungry hunk of junk but otherwise has less impact than most users (just interesting tid bits from the server back end). Thanks to everyone who sent me DM's (I read them even if I didn't reply), gifs, porn, flowers, etc etc to try to track down the issues. Be proud to know you were in a prestigious group of users who spent part of their day yesterday troubleshooting only to have the server magically fix itself on its own. Feels great, right? :rain:

Anyway, I really don't want to put TLU behind a pay wall, but it does seem to cause performance issues.. Right now I'm considering a combo of donation status OR verified member (those of you who have the turkerhub qual).. I feel like that'll balance out giving priority to active participants of our community versus just those who can throw $5 at me, but in either case its still just "anyone who can register an account" for now until another issue arises. I'll be tinkering today to try to optimize a few more things but I don't think I'll be doing anything that should cause slowdowns like we saw yesterday so if anything funky starts to happen please don't hesitate to tag me and let me know so I can send the neutralization team to your doorstep. Squeeky wheels get the assassination attempt /sayings from ChrisTurk.
