Don't be too scared. Track what you spend closely so you can write off as much as possible to offset the taxes you have to pay. Also, if you have a W-2 job, or if you file jointly, you can adjust your withholding exemptions to offset it as well.

I have 2 kids, I'd say we are middle class, the truth is with college tuition coming on strong.. I feel broker than when we first started out. BUT it is worth the sacrifice!

I actually found it quite easy to claim the money, etc.. under an independent contractor and I am pretty sure there is something on the site that talks about all of this too. I like that it breaks down into years.. because I would be in trouble otherwise! :)

Anybody else getting blank reviews on Suri? I noticed some had a short lag time before they appeared, but now they're not appearing at all, just the HIT instructions and submit button.

We use H&R usually, I do not like to do it myself. Social security kicked my ass last year! The only thing I was able to deduct was my computer I had bought specifically for Mturk, I would much rather make some money throughout the year and pay the taxes though. I love that I found Mturk, went from a stay at home momma making nothing to being able to contribute $300 a week. I rave about it and hate when people say it is a scam because they are not willing to learn the ropes, definitely not for everyone though!

Or not a "real way to make money/job" Well people used to say that (including my own family) but I keep going. LOL.. and they have slowly started to come around.

My gf still sorta makes fun of my "side hustle" but she's quietly accepted that I work from 1500-1700 when I get home with minor interruptions after I showed her the "books"

I work with an accountant and when I asked if going back to turking was worth it, she told me that even if it jumps me up a bracket, after self-employment and social security, etc, I'd keep around 60% of what I earn. I haven't been worrying too much about it since my full-time job is government, I have a lot of deductions due to my mortgage payments, and I've always kept track of everything with my finances closely anyway.

Lol, I started on my phone doing p9r's and A9's until I was able to buy a cheap laptop off of amazon, my husband made fun of me constantly for "making pennies" let's just say he doesn't make fun of me anymore! Especially after getting a computer and being able to make weekly deposits. It has literally saved our butts. We actually just bought our first house so not sure if that will change anything this coming year

You get a tax credit for that and can deduct the interest paid on your mortgage.

I've found that people go between being jealous of me for being able to work at home and make a living, or calling it a fake, easy job. Which it's not. But I'm preaching to the choir.

I'd be jealous of me for being able to work at home too :flute:

Haha, right now my kids are 1,2,4, and 6 so I still have a good number of years!!

And awesome, I actually bought a new dual monitor, fancy schmancy PC. Best decision ever! Using all of the free coding sites to try learn that because I know that will help more.

People do not realize that Mturk is a legitimate job, we have to work for the money (usually!!) it doesn't fall in your lap.
