Can't you neuter at about 3-4 months? I know with cats it's that way. We had Holly spayed as soon as the vet okay-ed it cause we figured one of the boys would get an idea sooner or later.

A quick google says you can spay/neuter after 8 weeks. I'd talk to your vet!

All the puppies I've ever dealt with were neutered well before 6 months, but I think that's about puberty time for them. My service dog was de-balled at like 9 weeks old and I know our humane society where I was from did it from like 3 months on. I'd check around! As long as you take care of it before they get humpy or go into heat.

 

Like someone said earlier 2 puppies at the same time can be very hard. I used to foster and I had to take care of a lot of them. Most of the time it was because people were too cheap to take their dogs to the vet. Sorry for being short earlier just back memories of animals being neglected.

Thank you! I'll check. I'm also considering getting a kitten for my second pet instead of a puppy, just not sure if my puppy is too energetic for a kitten. I always see all these pictures of pets growing up together and being best friends so I want them to be best friends growing up. I definitely play on taking care of whichever pet I get though. I have kept up with my current puppies vet visits and spoil him a ton. I love animals so much

 

I just had this horrifying flashback to when I adopted Skeeter and then immediately took in a horde of feral kittens so they wouldn't get put down. Worth it but fucking insane.

I'm sure you will, you don't need to rush it. I have seen many animals fall in love with one another with years between them. The most important thing for you to do if you don't get another pet is to socialize your current pup as much as you can.

 

My cousin dumped his dog on us when we already had my sister's dog who was a year old at the time. The two of them together was pretty tiring. Heck, even if I'm down to just the one now he's still tiring, especially since he's a solid 65 pounds of muscle.
