Lol yeah I noticed.

 

Some of the users had issues with other users, ended up splitting off to make their own channel, now #mturk is just a place for reddit really. Reddit posts show up, random redditors appear and ask questions, sometimes requesters stop by, but it's mostly dead in there.

 

I'm on plenty of IRC channels but none of them are on snoonet

I used to be too, but I'm really only on snoonet now. I was on so many servers/channels I was spending more time in IRC than I was in work, so I had to scale it back a bit XD

 

All of my channels are anime fansub related and spinoffs from those communities

 

Hmm.. This seems like the tasty version of irony, considering the predilection for making fun of forums for this behavior

ETA: Not directed at you, or really anyone in particular, just funny 'cause its kinda human nature and sorta unavoidable in a ton of social situations. One day MG will rise up and murder me in my sleep to open TurkerMingle, I'm sure of it.

I know right? I think it's pretty common with groups of people online who hang out together. It's hard to get body language, so it's hard to handle people.

For example, if I were hanging out with a group of people in real life, I could focus on another conversation and block out a topic I didn't like. Alternatively, if I started talking about things others didn't like, it'd be easy to see that I was bothering people, and you could adjust from there.

It's a lot harder online, you lack those nonverbal cues, and it makes it really difficult to hold a community together. Hell, we were only a community of like, 20ish, and we broke. It's not super hard.
