Between all my user testing on my phones and mturk hits on my phone, and the fact that my old phone couldn't run most of them, do you think I can write a small portion of my new phone cost off as a business expense?

THIS IS NOT EXPERT ADVICE.

That said, if it were fully dedicated to mTurk and ONLY mTurk, then yes. Otherwise, you can't really say "I only use it for mTurk 20% of the time." If that were the case, I could write off my computer, parts, internet service, new speakers, headphones, etc. I could go on, but I think you get it.

EDIT: As a counter example, my webcam is EXCLUSIVELY used for mTurk work, so I'll get that $27 back.

I think that is accurate. My fiance is a truck driver and even though he uses his phone and data for work, we would have to prove what percent of the use is dedicated to the job if we were to deduct the expense and then were audited.

 

*looks around* I leave for a few days and you guys pick up the entire forum and move, eh?
