09/09 - Swimming Saturday!

One comp always has TH open and in other tabs has PC, OW, and HN, and the other comp has one monitor with HF and one for working. I didn't mean it's a bad setup, I just meant since TH is always open now, I find myself on there more when I have actual work to do.

 

Ahh I leave a TH up on my main monitor in social mode to low quality content message, and then have a tab open in work mode on my second monitor for desktop notifications/keywords

 

I felt like not giving out too much information on a survey this morning as they wanted to know my weight,height than my car model and what year it was made.
Yeah, after the equifax scandal I said this is a little too much information they want for .80 cents.
Plus I had my credit card breached about 2 weeks ago, so I returned the survey.
lol.

 

Scandal? When and what was that? Also, any idea how your card got breached?

 

Equifax had a databreach where 143m users had their info comprimised, and then it turns out 3 of the higher ups in the company sold company stock before the public knew about the incident.

The breach, which was discovered July 29, includes sensitive information such as social security numbers, birthdays, addresses and in some instances, driver's license numbers. My credit card maybe was a separate incident from this. I live in Massachusetts, and I got alerts that someone was using my card in NY for Lift rides and sending Western Union to NJ for themselves. That has ben resolved,but it took a week to get my money back.
I had my card in possession, and they still took me for a few hundred.
I am going to be more careful now with giving out information online.

 

I didn't know about the CEO selling stock.. and I pay them 14.95 to monitor my credit... Funny considering they can't seem to monitor their own crap!

 

Heads Up: I contacted nipples and they told me they'd be showing their qualification ones sometime next week.

 

They want to offer us a deal where they will give us free credit monitoring for a year,but if we agree to it that means we sign something that we can't sue them in the future if the damage of identity theft happens to us.
So most people are not taking the deal. My friend says they should give us free lifetime monitoring for letting all the info being stolen by hackers.
There is a big thread about this on Reddit.

 

I'll have to check it out. I did see the article, but honestly with everything going on in the world right now, I think it is almost on the back burner.

Agreed. I would probably wouldn't have even thought about it a month ago,but seeing how my credit card was used by some stranger has made me more aware about this stuff now.

It was crazy I woke up one morning and money to pay some bills were gone. I caught it in less than 24 hours and luckily it got solved within a week. So now I will be more cautious with my info.

Was it your debit card info that was compromised? Depending on the bank they will often give you a credit right away with the understanding that if they determine the fraud you reported isn't fraud that they'll debit the money back out. Obviously yours was actual fraud since it was in a different state and not online purchases.

Stuff like that is why I only use my debit card at an ATM to deposit/withdraw cash. Everything else goes on a credit card and is paid off monthly. That isn't possible for everyone for various reasons but a prepaid debit card sometimes make sense if you do a lot of online purchasing to keep the bulk of your cash safe.
