TLDR 75k is the standard for money to happiness ratio. If you make more you're more likely to be stressed and hate your life

Median salary is around 65-75k for pilots, the ones making more than 6 figures have either a FUCK TON of experience, or are getting a temporary boost for working for a regional airport. They don't pay you as well to be first officer though. The hours are insane and a lot of people burn out. They do a lot of rando drug and alcohol screenings cause depression, suicide, and alcoholism are a big problem. I know very few lifetime commerical pilots and the ones who have done it for a few decades are not the happiest people I know. Matt looked at doing it for a few years and just coudln't rationalize the hours and time away from home. All his friends that are airline pilots are looking to GTFO. Our friend makes about 60k as a first officer and a 2 year bonus for being in the middle of jack shit, out in the middle of Alaska and fucking hates his life right now. The average gets way dragged up for the select few who are making like 200k compared to the rest.

We know this one delta pilot who did it for about 35 years, who has a lovely home on a runway...and 3 ex wives with kids who don't speak to him anymore. Matt just couldn't do it.

 

They want a thousand bucks for the new iPhone????? WTH?

 

I bought a google phone for 200$ a year ago, and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything at all.
