Like a retail outlet, it's time to start preparing for Halloween, even though it's a month away. And what could be more Halloweeny than

TRICK OR TREAT!!!!!

You know what it is! I'm starting to think about my trick or treat hits again this year! If you're interested in helping me plan, or in participating, check out the spoiler(s) below for a brief explanation, how to participate, and a link to a (hopefully) quick survey I'm running to get some feedback!

What the hell is a trick or treat hit and why are you creaming yourself about them?

The trick or treat hits are hits I made as a proof of concept a while back, that ended up being a really fun joke/fun hit. The concept is that I put up a series of hits all through October celebrating Halloween. The hits have a single button. When you click the button, you either get a trick, and the hit automatically returns itself, or a treat, and the hit submits and automatically approves.

Nothing is rejected, don't worry. Yes, the "tricks" will count against your hits for the day, and will increase your returned hits. It's literally the same as clicking the "return" button on the MTurk Interface. If that bothers you, contact me and I can grant you an exclusion qual, which will voluntarily exclude you from the hits.

Are there rules?

Rule one is not to cheat the system. It's supposed to be a fun hit, and everyone should get a chance to play. Don't try to brute-submit, or force-submit, or do anything to change your odds or cheat. I have anti-cheat mechanisms in place. They're not foolproof, and they won't result in a rejection, but you will be given the involuntary exclusion qual, which will disqualify you from this and future trick or treat hits. Please, just play nice.

Rule two is to have fun! There were a few "salty Sally"s last year. Nothing terrible, but some people got very discouraged. It's not supposed to be something to stress over, it's supposed to be fun.

Is anything different this year?

Yes! I'm currently doing some testing, but I believe I've gotten a better mechanism in place. What this means is that, assuming everything works properly, you shouldn't have to go to the hits assigned to you tab anymore, it should just work right in the frame, and should be completely obvious whether you've been tricked or treated.

Also, in the survey, I'm asking for some advice on things that might change how the hit works and how the batches are set up too.

How do I participate?

You will need my "Brony" qual. You can find the qual by following this URL. If it shows that you have a "100", you're fine. If you see any other value, you'll need to request it. Please read below for information.

This is always a huge thing every year. In the attempt to make it easier, I've made the qual auto-approve IF YOU HAVE THE PROPER PASSWORD AND PUT IT IN PROPERLY.

I'm running a survey on google forms to get some feedback and some general info, as well as give you all a chance to help me figure out what I'm doing lol. Please note: The survey requires you to log into a google account so that I can prevent people from retaking. Please don't just log into multiple accounts, one answer per person. Last time I did this, I didn't prevent retakes, and had a few people submit dozens of responses and skew the whole thing, so this is my best option.

The survey results are not tied to you or your account, but they are not private either. I've set it up so that after you submit, you can view the results to get an idea of what your fellow turkers are saying. The reason for this is two-fold. One, I feel like I'll get some good feedback on the results from everyone, and two it will help discourage douchebaggary. I figured allowing others to see would build a "shame barrier", so that people would be worried about being called out. Just like a professor reading crappy test answers discourages crappy test answers, because nobody wants their answer to be the subject of discussion.
