    Boy, there is nothing like the feeling of impending doom when you ask the plumber how much the bill is going to be and he keeps saying "give me a second" and goes and makes more noise under the house

    I don't think Matt was making that joke. He was being his ADHD self and Birdee was expressing her frustration that he was sending texts from the next room over instead of walking over and talking to her.

    Seriously though... what is with parents and buying kids hamsters and replacing them anyways? I know of a few examples of it actually happening so I know that isn't just a joke.

    Because they don't want their kid to cry. Instead of teaching their kid to face the realities of responsibility and accept that death is a thing that comes to us all, they'd rather just buy the kid another "toy" so they won't get on their nerves with their tears.

    People don't want sad kids. It's easier to keep them in a bubble until they are adults and you can just let the rest of society deal with them.
