Those extreme couponing shows aren't representative of reality at all, and you should always take everything you see on tv with a hefty boulder of salt. Also, impulse control is considered a pretty valuable trait for people in general.

Yeah, I'm pretty bad with that. Often I go shopping I go and buy stuff I don't need. Like the other day I came home with tampons...

Have you considering making a shopping list before you go out? Also, do not shop for groceries while hungry. It's a bad idea, man.

Oh, yeah, I should NEVER shop when I'm hungry. Or conscious.

But yeah, I do try to make a list.

Match coupons and sales for stuff you use. If it's something you use and would buy anyway why wouldn't you? Plus I shop Harris Teeter most often and they double up to 99 cents so that 50 cent coupon turns into a dollar.
....... You could have saved money if you had used a coupon:p

And another thing it's like so many of those coupons they're for brand name stuff (like cereal or whatever) and I think, "You know, even WITH the twenty/forty/whatever cents off, it's STILL cheaper just to buy the generic cereal..." (or, if you don't buy cereal insert generic "whatever grocery item" and the point usually still stands.

Tampons are unfairly expensive, but you're right, there are always coupons for them! and /r/freebies!

    Example shopping trip I've done:

Store had a sale of General Mills cereals, $1.78 a box, if you buy 4 boxes.
I had 2 $0.75 off 2 boxes coupons, which each one fully doubled to $1.50.

    4 x $1.78 - $3.00 = $4.12 for 4 big boxes of cereal.

My kid's breakfast is set for months.

I think shopping sales is a better bet.

    There's always a sale somewhere.

A week being 7 days... but .. enough? I mean I don't eat it as often because proper food is more filling but :dunno:

Actually market cereal boxes might be larger than I'm remembering... I'm used to costco sized ones that last me forever and a half
