I once watched a cormorant eat a large, live water snake. It took a long time and a lot of fighting, because the snake kept trying to wriggle back up out of its bill. When the bird finally got it down, its neck was twisting and curving in the shape of the writhing snake. It was one of the most epic things I've ever seen, in a weird way.
