I would have taken you as someone not prone to anxiety. You open your mouth and awesome comes out. You exude confidence.

I still hold back a lot here, it's an uphill battle. But I try. And knowing that others share the same fears is always helpful. At some point, the dam will break and you'll all get to experience my crazy brain, but for now just @jessers gets to experience the 7am emergency texts asking if I can request no animal noises during sex on a Tinder profile.

Lots of shy people come out of their shell online :) It's also like therapy, helping shy people be more bold and confident in their "real life".

I hate those comparing things. I got two nasty grams about going above and beyond "taste and sight" of things and saying "XX is more common in the US, YY is more common in the UK"

I read once that there are two ways to deal with social anxiety, and one of the, is to just sort of take charge of the environment to maintain a sense of control. The result is you meet a lot of outgoing extroverts who are actually super nervous to meet and interact with you, but most people would never guess.

I'm that way too actually. I'll be about to crap myself but look like I'm so relaxed and happy to be there. I would not have guessed with you either, though. You and @jessers are both pretty intimidating. But that could be because I've fused you into one veteran super-turker in my head.

Ahh, you've perfected the fake it until you make it method. I try that on occasion, but it only works for me when there's a decent amount of booze to rely on. Drunk me is super confident.

@jessers and I may be weird clone people. Science hasn't figured us out yet. So I totally get that.

It's weird you said intimidating, because that's actually the reaction I get the most from people IRL. I think it's the way I carry myself when I'm uncomfortable. I get my resting Grinch face all up.

I find it really interesting, seeing other people like you and @Hummingbirdee worry about social situations when you both come across confident and relaxed here. It really drives the point home that no matter what you see externally, everyone is trying to manage their own brain the best they can.

That entire paragraph makes me wish that I was someone you texted/pmed. Also yes, you definitely can request that on tinder! Online dating was the worst! Past POF/Match gal here. Boy, could I tell you some stories.

I've just learned to kinda let my freak flag fly and let people take it or leave it. I got made fun of from the moment I opened my weird little mouth as a kiddo and so eventually just decided to be me cause me was cool in my own strange way and did I really want to be friends with people who were mean? Nope! New people or situations make me totally nervous though and stuff like crowded malls, I pretty much leave nail marks in Matt's arm I'm clutching him so hard. Also therapy, therapy helped lol. And a lot of credit to Matt, who has always been the effortlessly cool popular guy who dates the prom queen/sorority president and somehow decided , I like that weird girl very much! I guess I'll date her even though my friends say she's a freak. And ditto to what @Missesdash said, taking control makes me infinitely calmer. Fake it till you make it was what I learned in the Performing Arts and it's definitely helped me push through.:hug:Hugs for everyone!

Nah they say not to include the origin of the name. I got bonused a bunch and I always include: origin, color outside, color inside, texture, presence of seeds and flavor.

    Works every time.

    Really?
I got bonused ONE cent three times with "You included irrelevant details such as place of origin and where more commonly eaten".

I did get bonused three dollars, however, for informing them a banana was a type of berry.
Which is something I learned when I was knee high to a grasshopper.
