    I'm not sure about how USAA works I just know that they have it through a friend, but the banks I have it with only required signing up for the service, no special account required.

    Long story but had inherited money that was locked up in SunTrust and the administration fee(s) they charged was over 300% of what they did by improperly managing the 'account'. 2 years and attorney's fees later I was able to take control of the account and promptly moved the assets and got majority of administration fees and some attorney fees covered back but the sons of Grinches still dinged me on exorbitant 'asset transfer fees.'
